Durand & Anastas Environmental Strategies, Inc., was founded in 2003 as a multidisciplinary environmental firm, providing clients with integrated permitting, public relations/government relations, and legislative services for projects with environmental impacts. Our work has increasingly focused on land/water resource conservation and coastal management, including offshore energy projects, Municipal Harbor Plans, and Chapter 91 Public Tidelands approvals. In addition, we work with clients to plan and develop project filings under the Massachusetts Environmental Policy Act (MEPA), and to promote legislation addressing key environmental, transportation, and energy issues.

Working with our clients, Durand & Anastas has:
- Provided state and federal permitting, public outreach, and media services for the first offshore Liquefied Natural Gas ( LNG) terminal along the East Coast
- Successfully addressed significant state regulatory issues at a former industrial waterfront facility in a Designated Port Area (DPA) located in the metropolitan Boston area
- Obtained MEPA certificates for golf courses in Central and Western Massachusetts
- Developed successful Chapter 91 license approval strategies for a major pier facility on Cape Cod and a new restaurant in Gloucester’s DPA
- Worked with local environmental groups and municipal officials to assess and develop a regional remediation plan for a Fortune 500 company
- Advised clients on Chapter 91 licensing requirements and approaches to developing Municipal Harbor Plans (MHPs)
- Developed and implemented a successful permitting and public relations strategy for a construction & demolition debris recycling facility in Central Massachusetts
- Advised a world-renown nonprofit research facility on seafloor mapping
- Developed public outreach strategies for a major rail improvement project for the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA), the nation’s sixth largest public transit agency
- Provided MHP and Chapter 91 licensing strategies and baseline plans to a prominent yacht club
- Developed government relations, energy, and business development strategies for maritime transportation companies
